Small Heliconias
Small heliconias range in height from miniatures just over a foot tall to around
6 feet. They all have upright, long lasting flowers, and are excellent as
ground covers or filler plants in the tropical garden, and as cut flowers for
small arrangements. They can also be grown and flowered easily in
pots.
We dig, clean and label
each rhizome to order, and they are shipped fresh so you receive the

 Heliconia
psittacorum x marginata 'Nickeriensis' A
very vigorous plant and prolific bloomer, 4-5 feet tall. Can grow in
partial shade to full sun. Bracts are orange-red with a yellow
border and yellow rachis. Blooms throughout the year. Thought
to be a hybrid between Heliconia psittacorum and H. marginata.

'Golden
Torch' is a very productive and vigorous plant. Grows well in
partial shade to full sun. Plant habit is erect, from 5-6 feet tall.
Blooms year round. Easy to flower in a pot.

is a very productive and vigorous plant with a gorgeous flower.
Makes a great cut flower. Bracts are dark orange red and the true
flowers are light orange with dark green tips. Grows well in partial

tall. Blooms year round.

is a very productive and vigorous plant with a gorgeous flower.

fading to peach at the base. The true flowers are light orange with

'Distans' has
spiral red bracts fading into a yellow base, which
fades into a green rachis. Grows well in sun to partial shade.
Summer bloomer, 2-3 feet tall. Will flower in a pot, and has some cold tolerance.

'Andromeda' is a vigorous plant and prolific year-round
bloomer, about 2-3 feet tall. Can grow in partial shade to full sun.
Bracts are light red with a frosty waxy coating, becoming orange toward
the rachis. The true flowers are bright orange with a dark green
tip.

vigorous plant and prolific year-round bloomer, 2-3 feet tall. Can
grow in partial shade to full sun. Bracts are solid red, becoming
orange toward the rachis. The true flowers are orange with a dark

vigorous plant and prolific year-round bloomer, 2-3 feet tall. Can
grow in partial shade to full sun. Bracts are solid red, becoming
pinkish toward the rachis. The true flowers are pale yellow with a
dark green tip.

psittacorum 'Petra' 'Petra'
is a vigorous plant and prolific bloomer, about 3-4 feet tall. Can
grow in partial shade to full sun. Bracts are light red with a
frosty waxy coating, becoming orange toward the rachis. The true
flowers are bright orange with a dark green tip. Similar to 'Andromeda',
but a larger plant with larger flowers.

vigorous plant and prolific bloomer, 3-4 feet tall. Can grow in
partial shade to full sun. Bracts are hot pink toward the tips,
becoming yellowish toward the rachis. The true flowers are pale
yellow with a dark green tip.

richardiana 'Little Richard'
Cute dwarf heliconia,
reaching about 2-3 feet in height. Pale yellow bracts with a bright red
base, rachis and fruits. Grows well in shade to partial shade.

vigorous plant and prolific bloomer, 3-4 feet tall. Can grow in partial
shade to full sun. Bracts are solid bright red with a red rachis.

stricta 'Dwarf Jamaican'
One of the smallest heliconias, growing and flowering
only 1 to 2 feet tall. Can grow in partial shade to full sun, and
will bloom in a pot. Blooms year round. Bracts are solid
bright red, with a thin green border.

stricta 'Valentine'
Bright red heliconia, around 3-4 feet tall. Can
grow in partial shade to full sun, and will bloom in a pot. Blooms
in winter and spring, right around Valentine's Day.
