Lecythidaceae (Brazil nut family)

    The Lecythidaceae comprise 10 genera and about 325 species of trees native to tropical America.  The Brazil nut (Bertholletia excelsa) is well known for its edible nut, but other members of the family, such as Lecythis zabucajo, the paradise nut, are equally good or better.
