Heliconia stricta 'Iris' (Heliconiaceae) 

    'Iris' is a beautiful bright red winter and spring (December through March) blooming heliconia.  It is similar to Heliconia stricta 'Valentine', but the plant and flower are larger.  A vigorous plant and prolific bloomer, 5-6 feet tall.  Can grow in partial shade to full sun.  Bracts are pure red, with a thin green border.
