Thought to be a natural hybrid between the pendent Heliconia collinsiana and the erect Heliconia bourgeana, 'Pedro Ortiz' begins looking like an erect inflorescence, but then starts to twist and hang down like a pendent. Bracts are full, and a beautiful solid pink purple color. Grows well in partial shade to full sun. An erect plant habit, from 6-8 feet tall. Blooms from December through May in Puerto Rico.
