Heliconia caribaea 'St. Lucia' (Heliconiaceae)
This very nice dark red form of Heliconia caribaea was collected on the Caribbean island of St. Lucia and named by Paul Yoshioka. The bracts are wide and smooth, and are dark red, changing to an even darker purple-red toward the tips. Blooms from December to July. Plant habit is erect, from 8-10 feet tall.
