Costus barbatus
(Costaceae)

Costus barbatus is known as the spiral ginger or red tower ginger.  It grows in a nice clump, about 5-6 feet tall and about the same width.  The inflorescence is a bright, glossy red color, which contrasts nicely with the clear yellow true flowers.  The yellow flowers are edible and have a delightful sour lemony flavor.  Grows well in full sun or shade and blooms year round.
