Chorisia speciosa (Bombacaceae)
Chorisia speciosa, the chorisia or silk floss tree, is a native of South America which loses it leaves and bears beautiful, large, single flowers in the winter (December-March). There are different shades of purple, pink and white. The bright green trunk is extremely spiny and attractive.
