Tropical Ornamental Plants
The plants on this page are specially propagated in soiless mix to meet nematode
quarantine regulations of California, Arizona, Texas and Louisiana, but can be
shipped anywhere else too. They are shipped in the pot, so don't
experience any transplant shock. Please check back, as we are continually
adding new items. Also, please contact us for custom propagation of
anything you don't see here. Prices do not include shipping

Alpinia purpurata 'Polynesian Princess'
Polynesian Princess ginger has beautiful red bracts
with pink borders. Grows well in partial shade to full sun. Plant
habit is erect, reaching 5-6 feet tall. Blooms year round.

Alpinia purpurata 'Red Ginger'
'Red Ginger' is the most common type of ginger.
Bracts are a uniform red color. Good cut flower. Grows well
in shade to partial sun. Plant habit is erect, reaching 6-8 feet
tall. Blooms year round.

Ananas bracteatus (variegated pineapple)
Variegated pineapple has beautiful green leaves with bright white and pink
stripes. Very ornamental in landscaping or as a "cut flower". Grows
well in partial to full sun. Not edible. Can't be shipped to Hawaii.

Strelitzia reginae (orange bird of paradise)
Orange bird of paradise forms a large clump with many
flowers. Prefers full sun. Used in landscaping and as a cut flower. Blooms
primarily in summer.

Vanilla claviculata (leafless vanilla)
Leafless vanilla is a Caribbean native with tiny
leaves which fall off, leaving the green stem leafless. Beautifully
exotic flowers are produced on mature vines, followed by vanilla beans if
hand pollinated. Can't be shipped to Hawaii.

Vanilla planifolia (edible vanilla)
This is the species used for commercial vanilla production. Needs to
have a well aerated bark based mix, and a support for climbing.
Shade to partial sun. Pollinated flowers produce vanilla beans.
Can't be shipped to Hawaii.

Vanilla planifolia variegata (variegated edible vanilla)
Variegated vanilla has beautiful creamy yellow bands on the leaves.
This is the same species as edible vanilla and will produce edible vanilla
beans. Needs to have a well aerated bark based mix, and a support
for climbing. Shade to partial sun. These are nice plants,
already rooted and growing on a fern totem. Can't be shipped to
Hawaii.
