Cannaceae (canna family) Cannas are found primarily in the American tropics. There is one genus (Canna), with up to 50 species. Cannas are distinguished by the presence of mucilage cells and a petal like style fused to a single fertile stamen. Many canna hybrids are grown in temperate regions as tender annuals.
