Alpinia zerumbet 'Variegata' (Zingiberaceae) 


Alpinia zerumbet 'Variegata', the variegated shell ginger, is a beautiful form of the regular green Alpinia zerumbet, with creamy yellow variegations on the leaves.  It forms a large clump with stems up to 6-7 feet tall.  Blooms from March to May in Puerto Rico.  Will grow in shade, partial sun or full sun.  Variegated shell ginger may be propagated by division or seed.
